About me
A filmmaker and visual storyteller from Northern Illinois, driven by the compelling experiences and rich cultural tapestry of her immigrant family. Her core motivation comes directly from them: the stories of tenacity, resilience, and heart are what keep her creative engine going.
Nely’s journey into the visual arts began not with film, but with a dedicated passion for photography, which trained her eye for composition, lighting, and framing. This foundation naturally evolved into filmmaking in 2020, when she started transforming high school assignments into video essays. This period cemented her dedication to the moving image.
Nely then found Columbia College Chicago where she’s on track to complete a Bachelor of Arts Degree for film and television in May 2026. Nely’s time at Columbia, has allowed her to try different film environments to see if there was something else that she would like to do. This is where Nely fell in love with hands on planning and story development. This made her start to produce student films and she never turned back. All of the long nights and bumps in the roads have allowed her to get to this point where she’s confident in her skills.
Nely approaches every project with a dual focus: a sharp visual aesthetic and a producer's practicality. She is the person equally comfortable framing the perfect shot as she is building the most effective, color-coded production spreadsheet.
Inspired by the work of Shonda Rhimes, Guillermo del Toro and Akira Kurosawa. Nely is currently focused on developing her professional experience in the film industry. Her goal is to continue creating impactful stories that will allow audiences to be transformed to step out of their day to day life.
